The Atlas Difference
In the Chiropractic profession there are many different ways of adjusting the spine to remove nerve interferences. As a board certified Atlas Orthogonist, Dr. Johnston is recognized as a specialist in the field of Chiropractic, with advanced training in the structure, function and biomechanics of the upper cervical spine. The Atlas Orthogonal procedure is scientifically designed program which demonstrates the need for chiropractic care. It is a system to reduce neurological insult by balancing anatomical structures without the use of manual manipulation. It incorporates the use of a state of the art floor-based percussion adjusting instrument and precision x-ray analysis.
Most other Chiropractors use methods of adjusting in which they feel thespine, then manually manipulate it by applying a force until a "popping sound" is heard. In the Atlas Orthogonal procedure, Dr. Johnston utilizes specific x-ray views of the cervical spine to see exactly how the vertebrae have misaligned. The information received from the x-ray analysis is then used to determine the precise vectors to which the patient will be adjusted. The Atlas Orthogonal Percussion instrument is then set with those vectors to accomplish the adjustment and correct the subluxation complex. The patient feels no force and hears no pops or cracks. It is a painless adjustment that has proven to be one of the safest, most effective means of removing neurological insult. Typically, patients adjusted this way stay in adjustment longer than most other Chiropractic patients. This means fewer adjustments, more cost-effective health care and happier patients.
